Congratulationsto SSTESOL’s very own Ester J. de Jong on her recently published Foundations for Multilingualism in Education: From Principles to Practice. This foundational textbook equips pre-service and in-service educators with the knowledge and skills they need to make informed language and literacy education decisions in school. It also shows multiple pathways for advocacy through classroom and school practices and policy-making, and sets an agenda for research from a multilingual perspective. |

Congratulationsto SSTESOL’s very own, James May, for being recognized by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching as the 2011 Florida Professor of the Year, the only national award of its kind. Dr. May teaches EAP at Valencia College in Orlando, and he has developed his own style – using technology to get beyond language barriers and help students learn.
