The following are answers to conference related Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs):
Q: What technology will SSTESOL provide at the conference?
A: We will provide screens, projectors, and extension cords
Q: Will SSTESOL provide computers?
A: No. We do not provide computers or laptops of any kind. All presenters must bring their own computers.
Q: Will SSTESOL provide audio speakers?
A: No. SSTESOL will not provide audio speakers. We ask presenters to bring their own.
Q: If I have technical problems during my presentation, will there be someone on call to help?
A: Yes. We have a small team of volunteers knowledgeable in AV and PCs.
Q: I am in the Technology Strand. Will I have internet in my breakout room during my presentation?
A: Yes. If you are in the Technology Strand, then you will have internet connection during your presentation. You will be scheduled in our internet rooms: Dade and Florida Keys.
Q: I am not in the Technology Strand. Will I have internet in my breakout room during my presentation?
A: No. If you are not in the Technology Strand, SSTESOL will not provide you with internet access. We only provide internet in the rooms Dade and Florida Keys.
Q: I am not scheduled in an internet room. Can I buy my own connection for my presentation?
A: Yes, this can be done through the hotel. It is $85.00 per computer.
Q: Can I get wireless internet in my personal hotel room?
A: Yes, you will have to pay for this independently. The rates are $9.95 for 24 hours, $12.95 for 48 hours, and $19.95 for up to seven days.
Q: Is there free wireless at the hotel?
A: Yes, you can connect to wireless for free in the lobby or at any of the restaurants/cafes.
Q: Am I guaranteed the lowest room rate at the hotel?
A: No. The reduced rates ($109 per night) are on a first come, first served basis. If the room block fills up, you will have to pay the normal seasonal rate.
Q: Can I buy reduced rate tickets to Universal?
A: Yes. SSTESOL conference attendees can purchase reduced Universal Studios ‘convention tickets’ at the hotel.
Q: I see that there is a reception and a plated lunch scheduled during the conference. Do I need to buy separate tickets for these events?
A: No. Admission to the reception and lunch for conference attendees is included in the conference price.
Q: Can I bring a guest/spouse/child to the Thursday night reception?
A: Yes, at an additional cost. Conference attendees may bring guests to the reception at a fee of $25 per person.
Q: Do exhibitors have to register for the conference?
A: Each table purchased includes conference registration for one or two representatives who will man that table during the conference. An email will later be sent requesting the names of the table attendants.
Q: What is the exhibit space like?
A: The space includes a skirted table, 6 feet by 30 inches, 2 chairs, and a wastebasket. Exhibitors may use reasonably sized tri-folds on top of the table. They may not place items in the aisles or use additional tables they bring. Exhibitors will be in the Lake and Osceola Ballrooms. Plenary sessions are in the Orange Ballroom and the break-out sessions are in the Space Coast and Gold Coast Rooms.
Q: Does exhibit space have to be paid when I reserve my space?
A: Yes. Exhibit space must be paid for via the Sunshine State TESOL website. That is the only way to guarantee reservation.
